Voter Lists Shared with Political Parties

Lehragaga, September 11:- The second phase of filing claims and objections under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 of electoral rolls, being conducted in Punjab as per the directions of the Election Commission of India, is underway from August 13, 2026, to September 12, 2026. During this period, claims and objections received from voters are being disposed of by the concerned Electoral Registration Officers as per the prescribed rules and procedure.
In compliance with the directions issued by the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab, Chandigarh, Electoral Registration Officer-cum-Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Assembly Constituency 099-Lehragaga, Shri Rakesh Prakash, PCS, shared the lists of claims and objections received so far in connection with the revision and updating of the electoral roll with representatives of all recognised political parties, as per the prescribed procedure.
On the occasion, Electoral Registration Officer Shri Rakesh Prakash, PCS, said that the main objective of sharing the lists related to claims and objections with representatives of political parties is to ensure complete transparency and impartiality in the electoral roll revision process. He said that this would provide representatives of recognised political parties with the necessary information to examine and verify the claims and objections received.
He said that every claim and objection received during the SIR-2026 process is being considered in accordance with the prescribed election rules and instructions. He appealed to all eligible citizens to check their names and details in the electoral roll and, if any correction, inclusion or objection is required, to file their claim or objection within the prescribed period.
On the occasion, representatives of various recognised political parties, including Shri Gurmell Singh (Aam Aadmi Party), Shri Ravisher Singh (Shiromani Akali Dal), Shri Suresh Pal Rathi (Bharatiya Janata Party) and Shri Sukhjinder Singh (Indian National Congress), along with election staff, were present.
