Veterinary University to Organize Animal Husbandry Fair on September 18 and 19

Ludhiana, September 11, 2026:- Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, will organize a two-day ‘Animal Husbandry Fair’ on September 18 and 19, 2026.
Dr. Jatinder Pal Singh Gill, Vice-Chancellor, Veterinary University, said that farmers from other states are also invited to the fair. He said that this year’s fair will be dedicated to creating awareness about biosecurity, and therefore the slogan of the fair has been kept as ‘Strong Biosecurity, Protection from Diseases’. Livestock farmers will be provided information about various aspects of biosecurity and measures to protect animals from diseases. He informed that farmers who adopt and promote scientific methods of animal husbandry will also be honoured with ‘Chief Minister’s Awards’ in three categories.
Dr. Ravinder Singh Grewal, Director of Extension Education, said that enquiries being made by farmers indicate that they are very eager to visit the fair.
He informed that the university will demonstrate technologies related to veterinary and animal sciences, dairy, poultry and fisheries at the fair, and farmers and scientists will come together on the platform for technical lectures. A question-and-answer session will also be organized. An exhibition of the university’s superior-breed animals, buffaloes, goats, fish and poultry will be held. The complete literature published by the university, along with the journal ‘Scientific Animal Husbandry’, will also be available. Several booklets and other publications will be released.
Along with encouraging improvement in animal breeds, representatives of companies and financial institutions dealing with machinery, medicines, vaccines and animal feed related to milk and milk products will also be present at the fair. Information will be provided about mineral mixtures, animal lick blocks, bypass fat and the treatment of straw with urea prepared by the university. Farmers will be made aware of udder inflammation, milk testing, animal poisoning and internal parasites. Free testing facilities will be provided during the fair for animal blood, dung, urine, skin, feed samples, milk and fodder for toxicological concerns.
While various departments related to animal husbandry and agriculture will participate in the fair, more than 100 companies will set up stalls showcasing their medicines, equipment, machinery and animal-related facilities. Farmers’ org
