Vet Varsity Organizes an Off Campus Multidimensional Fisheries Extension Outreach Program

Ludhiana 26 August 2026:- College of Fisheries (COF), Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana organized an Off-Campus multidimensional Fisheries Extension Outreach Program at the aquaculture farm of Sh. Jasvir Singh Aujhla in village Karodian, district Ludhiana. The event was organised in collaboration with National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE) - Fisheries Innovation and Startup Hub (FISHub), Hyderabad; Department of Fisheries (DOF), Punjab; and the Innovative Fish Farmers Association (IFFA), Punjab.
The event kicked off with MANAGE- FISHub Aquapreneurship Acceleration Program “Aqua Reach” to sensitize the fish farmers with multiple income generating aquaculture models involving efficient resource utilization for sustainable economic output. 50 progressive fish farmers, including IFFA members and 30 budding fisheries professionals from COF attended the program. Scientific team of COF sensitized the beneficiaries with scientific aquaculture tips to boost aquaculture productivity and addressed the queries of the farmers with suitable solutions.
IFFA President Sh. Ranjodh Singh and Vice President Sh. Jasvir Singh Aujhla addressed the gathering with their aquaprenuerial experiences.  Sh. Satnam Singh, Assistant Director Fisheries. from DOF, Punjab and his team apprised the stakeholders of various promotional schemes providing startup financial assistance for fish farming. Young fisheries professionals interacted with the progressive fish farmers and gained practical aquaculture tips from their real-world experiences.
After the “Aqua Reach” session, Pradhan Mantri Matsya Kisan Samridhi Sah Yojana (PM-MKSSY) Camp was organized to create awareness about the Multi-facet benefits of this Yojana including capacity building, socio-economic benefits, and risk covering insurance aspects.
Afterwards, On-Farm Registration Drive of the fisheries stakeholders on the National Fisheries Digital Platform (NFDP) was facilitated by the National Verification & Monitoring Consultant. Dr. Vaneet Inder Kaur is State Partner Nodal Officer for Punjab.
The event concluded with an Academia-Farmer-Industry Interface. Mr. Malwinder Singh, Director, Anaya Feed Innovations Pvt. Ltd. apprised the stakeholders of different types of fish feeds, feed conversion ratio and its role in sustainable aquaculture production.
