Statelevel Been competition to be held on 2nd September in Kurukshetra

Hansi:- With the objective of encouraging and preserving Haryana's rich folk culture and traditional folk instrument Been playing art, a state-level competition of Been groups is being organized by the Department of Art and Cultural Affairs, Haryana. This competition will be organized on 2nd September 2026 at 10 am at Multi Art Culture Centre (Haryana Kala Parishad), Kurukshetra.
Folk artist groups skilled in Been playing from across the state will participate in the competition. Through the competition, artists will get an opportunity to showcase their talent as well as to promote Haryanvi folk culture and traditional instrumental music.

First winning team will get Rs 75 thousand prize
Attractive prize money will be given by the Department of Art and Cultural Affairs to the teams giving outstanding performance in the competition. Rs 75,000 will be given as first prize, Rs 60,000 as second prize and Rs 50,000 as third prize. Apart from this, 05 consolation prizes will also be given, in which each winning team will be given a prize money of Rs 10,000.

Criteria fixed for participating in the competition
Some necessary criteria have been fixed by the department for participation in the competition. These include that it is mandatory for the participants to be native residents of Haryana and for its proof the participants will have to bring their Aadhaar card.
It is mandatory for each team participating in the competition to have 8 to 10 artists. Also, it is necessary for each team to have at least 3 to 4 Been players. Participants will have to give their performance in Haryanvi folk attire, so that the glimpse of the traditional folk culture and costume of the state is also seen through the performance.
It has been clarified by the department that travel or daily allowance (TA/DA) will not be provided to the artists participating in the competition. During the competition, the performances will be evaluated by the jury on the basis of prescribed rules and criteria. The decision of the jury will be final and valid.
The Department of Art and Cultural Affairs has appealed to the eligible and interested folk artists and groups associated with Been playing of the state to contribute in strengthening the rich folk music tradition of Haryana by participating in the state-level competition while fulfilling the prescribed criteria.
