Thousands to Walk Against Drugs in Una as Chief Minister Leads AntiChitta Walkathon

Una, September 15:- Thousands of people will take a collective step against drugs in Una on September 16. All preparations for the Anti-Chitta Walkathon, to be led by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, have been completed by the district administration and police administration. Extensive arrangements have been made for the convenience, safety and health services of participants, as well as for public convenience and smooth traffic movement in the city. Officers of the district administration and police administration inspected the programme venue and the walkathon route and finalised the arrangements.
The Chief Minister will flag off the walkathon. He will interact with the youth and personally walk alongside the participants to spread the message of awareness against drugs. On the occasion, the Chief Minister will also administer an oath to the participants on drug awareness and environmental protection. Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, MLAs and other dignitaries will also attend the programme.
Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal has appealed to the residents of the district to participate in the Anti-Chitta Walkathon in maximum numbers. He said that participation of every section of society is essential to strengthen public awareness against drugs. He called upon youth, students, parents and the general public to become part of the campaign and strengthen the collective resolve against drugs.
The programme will begin at 8 a.m. from Indira Gandhi Sports Ground, Una. During the programme, the renowned police band ‘Harmony of the Pines’ will perform. Following around two hours of cultural and awareness programmes, the Chief Minister will flag off the walkathon. The walkathon will proceed from Indira Gandhi Sports Ground to ISBT Una and then return to the sports ground.
The walkathon will witness extensive participation from students of Classes 9 to 12, ITI and college students, as well as the general public. The Deputy Commissioner has urged all educational institutions to participate in the walkathon with their institutional banners. He said that placards or boards using wood or any such material that could cause injuries to participants should not be brought. Buses arriving from different areas will also carry banners related to Anti-Chitta awareness.
Adequate arrangements for drinking water, toilets, refreshments, health services, parking and security have been made for the convenience and safe movement of participants. Sufficient police personnel will be deployed to monitor law and order and traffic arrangements, while surveillance will also be carried out through drones.

Special Traffic Arrangements
During the Anti-Chitta Walkathon, special traffic arrangements will remain in force in Una city from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on September 16. Alternative routes have been designated for inter-district traffic to prevent inconvenience to vehicles passing through the Una district headquarters. Necessary route arrangements have also been made for local traffic in the city. Traffic has been controlled and diverted as required. The general public has been appealed to follow the designated routes and traffic management instructions issued by the police from 8 a.m. on September 16 until the conclusion of the event.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the Anti-Chitta Walkathon is an opportunity to strengthen the collective voice of society against drugs. He appealed to the residents of the district to become part of these thousands of steps that will be taken in Una on September 16 and send a strong message of unity against drugs.
