Mayor Extends Warm Welcome to Tibetan Pilgrim Tsering Tharchin in Karnal

Karnal, September 15:- Tsering Tharchin, who has embarked on a foot journey across India from Tibet, received a warm welcome in Karnal, the city of Danveer Karna. Mayor Renu Bala Gupta warmly welcomed and felicitated Tsering Tharchin at her residence in Chaudhary Colony and sought detailed information about the purpose of his journey.
It is noteworthy that Tsering Tharchin has embarked on a walking journey from Tibet to India carrying the message of ‘Bhai-Bhai Bharat’. According to the travel message shared by him, he began his foot journey from Dharamshala on August 20, 2026, and has set a goal of reaching New Delhi on foot. During the journey, he will travel through Kangra, Amb, Una, Mohali, Panchkula, Chandigarh, Ambala, Karnal and Sonipat before reaching Delhi.
Welcoming Tsering Tharchin at her residence on Tuesday, Mayor Renu Bala Gupta said that Indian culture has always stood for the messages of peace, compassion, humanity and ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’. She appreciated his effort to take the message of brotherhood and peace to people while travelling through different parts of the country. Such journeys are not merely a means of travelling from one place to another, but also convey a message of bringing people together and strengthening human values.
She said that welcoming every guest who comes to Karnal is part of the city’s tradition of warmth and hospitality. Particularly when a person is undertaking a long foot journey carrying a message of harmony, peace and brotherhood, encouraging him becomes a collective responsibility of society. She wished Tsering Tharchin success in his journey and expressed hope that his resolve would be completed safely and successfully and that the message of ‘Bhai-Bhai Bharat’ would reach as many people as possible.
It is worth noting that in his travel message, Tsering Tharchin has also raised issues related to the situation in Tibet, its culture, identity and environment. He described his journey as a tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for Tibetan freedom and an effort to draw the attention of the world and India towards issues related to Tibet. In line with this perspective, his message also calls for the protection of Tibet’s environment, rivers, glaciers and Himalayan ecology.
Mayor Renu Bala Gupta said that the environment of the Himalayan region is extremely important for the entire region, including India. The protection of rivers, mountain ecosystems and natural resources is directly linked to the interests of future generations. She appreciated Tsering Tharchin’s resolve and wished him a bright and safe journey.

He said that during his long foot journey, meeting people in different cities and receiving their affection gives him new energy.
