Patiala, August 16:- District Planning Committee, Patiala Chairman Tejinder Mehta said that the 58th birthday of public servant Arvind Kejriwal would be celebrated through various public service activities until September 15. He said that blood donation, registration for eye and organ donation, plantation drives, distribution of saplings and other public welfare activities would be carried out throughout the month, dedicated to Kejriwal’s vision.
He made the announcement while addressing a Public Service Day programme organised to mark the birthday of Arvind Kejriwal. During the programme, organised at SDKs Bhawan by Team Tejinder Mehta and various organisations of the city under the leadership of Tejinder Mehta, 180 units of blood were donated and 5,800 fruit-bearing and shade-giving saplings were distributed. In addition, registrations were carried out for 58 eye donations and 58 organ donations.
State General Secretary of the Aam Aadmi Party Baltej Pannu attended the programme as the special guest. The stage was conducted by renowned former All India Radio announcer Paramjit Singh Parwana.
Tejinder Mehta said that the objective of Public Service Day was not merely to organise a one-day event, but to continuously strengthen the spirit of serving humanity and fulfilling one’s responsibility towards society. He said that Arvind Kejriwal had always kept the welfare of common people and public service at the centre of his vision. Celebrating his birthday as Public Service Day was a humble effort to carry forward this vision.
Aam Aadmi Party State General Secretary Baltej Pannu said that Arvind Kejriwal was dedicated to public service. He said that Chairman Mehta’s initiative to connect Kejriwal’s birthday with public service activities and continue such efforts was commendable. He added that the efforts being made by Chairman Mehta to implement Kejriwal’s vision at the grassroots level would play an important role in connecting people with public service.
PRTC Chairman Harpal Juneja said that Chairman Mehta had set a historic example through this initiative. He said that instead of limiting a leader’s birthday to a private celebration, connecting it with the welfare of people and society was a unique approach. He said that the campaign initiated by Mehta would continue to inspire people towards social service in the future as well.
On the occasion, Arvind Kejriwal joined the programme live, accepted the birthday greetings and expressed his gratitude for the initiatives undertaken on Public Service Day. He appreciated these public service activities, which further boosted the enthusiasm of everyone associated with the programme.
