Supreme Court Approached Seeking Extension of Admission Cutoff Date to October 30

Ambala, September 13:- Eminent educationist Dr. Anshu Kataria, President of Federation of Self-Financing Technical Institutes' (FSFTI) and Punjab Unaided Colleges Association (PUCA), and Chairman of Aryans Group of Colleges, has approached the Hon'ble Supreme Court seeking an extension of the admission cut-off date across the country to October 30.
Dr. Kataria said that this extension could provide major relief to approximately 8-10 lakh students across the country and around 20,000 private colleges that are still awaiting opportunities for admissions to professional and higher education courses.
A petition seeking extension of the admission cut-off date to October 30 for professional courses regulated by the All India Council for Technical Education' (AICTE) and 'Pharmacy Council of India' (PCI) has already been filed in the Supreme Court, while a separate writ petition for courses coming under the 'University Grants Commission' (UGC) and 'National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions'(NCAHP) is also being filed shortly.
Dr. Kataria said that students should not lose an entire academic year due to delayed counselling, pending affiliations, approvals, procedural issues or other circumstances beyond their control.
It is pertinent to mention that for the past 4-5 years, Kataria has continuously been raising the issue of extending the admission cut-off date before the Supreme Court and has succeeded in obtaining favourable relief during previous academic sessions in the larger interest of students.
