State government to purchase Organic Carbon Analysis kit Shyam Singh Rana
Chandigarh, June 8:- In order to save Haryana's land from becoming barren and to make farmers more prosperous, the state government has taken a big and far-reaching decision, under which "Organic Carbon Analysis" kits will be purchased in the state so that now it can be accurately known how much organic carbon is present in which farmer's field.
Haryana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Mr. Shyam Singh Rana, while giving the above information, said that the main objective of this special campaign of the state government is to improve the health of the fields and prevent the land from becoming barren.
He chaired the meeting of the High Powered Purchase Committee today to purchase the "Organic Carbon Analysis" kit. On this occasion, Education Minister Mr. Mahipal Singh Dhanda was also specially present, while many other high officials including Additional Chief Secretary of the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department Mr. Vijender Kumar Officials also attended.
Sharing the details of the meeting and the government's plan, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shri Shyam Singh Rana said that the state government has approved the purchase of a total of 332 "Organic Carbon Analysis" kits, on which the state government will spend an amount of about Rs. 2.5 crore.
Through these modern kits, soil samples taken from farmers' fields will be thoroughly tested in a total of 106 government laboratories operating in the state of Haryana, which will enable farmers to get a clear report on the actual amount of organic carbon in their soil.
Citing scientific and agricultural standards, he further explained that for any field to grow a good and bountiful crop, the amount of organic carbon in the soil should be at least between 0.5 to 0.75 percent, while for an ideal, healthy and highly fertile soil, this level of 1 percent or more is considered optimal.
He expressed concern He also said that if the organic carbon level is found to be less than 0.5 percent during soil testing, then that land is kept in a very weak and diseased category because when such a situation arises, the natural ability of the soil to provide essential nutrients to plants gradually starts to disappear completely.
Underlining the role of carbon in soil fertility, the Agriculture Minister explained in detail that organic carbon is actually called the soul or backbone of the soil, as it is the main food of earthworms and plant-helping microorganisms hiding inside the soil. When its right and sufficient amount is maintained in the soil of a field, the water absorption capacity of the soil increases and it can retain moisture for a long time, the direct benefit of which is that the crops can easily withstand adverse conditions like low water or drought.
Along with this, this organic carbon is also a source of very essential and It binds the main nutrients firmly in the soil and works to easily deliver them directly to the roots of the plants, as a result of which the roots of the crops spread well deep into the ground and the dependence of the farmers on chemical fertilizers is also reduced to a great extent.
Shri Shyam Singh Rana, while reiterating the basic concept of the government, firmly said that the ultimate objective of the state government is not only to make the agriculture sector profitable and sustainable, but also to free the farmers from the cycle of excessive chemical fertilizers and move them towards completely debt-free agriculture, because he sincerely wants that in the coming time every farmer in the state of Haryana should have "debt-free agriculture and every farmer should have a debt-free family".
