Sikh Youth Edmonton Organizes Turban and Dumalla Competitions Dedicated to Shaheed Singhs
Edmonton (Canada), 9 September:- Sikh Youth Edmonton organized Turban and Dumalla competitions dedicated to the Shaheed Singhs at the famous Silver Berry Park in Edmonton, Canada. Children aged up to 10 years came wearing turbans tied at home, while competitions for children aged 15 years and above 16 years were held by tying the turbans on the spot. Dhadi Jathas and renowned speakers presented inspiring and warrior-oriented perspectives on the background of Sikh history and the prevailing circumstances. In particular, Bhai Kashmir Singh Dhadi Jatha, Bibi Veerpal Kaur Dhadi Jatha, Sital Singh Nanua, Dr. Amarjit Singh, Founder of TV84, Bhai Manveer Singh, Montreal Convener of Shiromani Akali Dal, Bhai Gurdev Singh, USA, Global Voice of Punjab TV84, Bhai Malkit Singh Dhesi, Bhai Avtar Singh Pannu and Bibi Gurwinder Kaur delivered impactful speeches, remembered the great martyrs of the Sikh community and appealed to the Sikh community to remain united.
On this occasion, committee office-bearers Bhai Ravinder Singh, Baba Bittu, Bhai Malkit Singh Dhesi, Ranjit Singh Khalsa, Bhai Gurpreet Singh, Bhai Charanjit Singh Mahal, Bhai Tajinder Singh Bhathal, Bhai Sukhdev Singh and Bhai Deep Singh made their overall contribution under the supervision of the event. Navjot Singh Dhami, the main coordinator of the Turban and Dumalla competition, successfully organized the event in an efficient manner.
The winners in the Turban and Dumalla competitions in the under-10 category were Harbaaj Singh, Taaveer Singh and Gurjaij Singh in the Turban competition, while Shiddat Kaur, Rabab Kaur and Fateh Singh were the winners in the under-10 Dumalla competition. The winners in the 10 to 15 age group in the Turban and Dumalla competition were Yuvraj Singh, Gur Fateh Singh and Gur Sahib Singh, while Tejjit Singh, Udeveer Singh and Gurditt Singh were the winners in the Turban competition for those above 15 years. The winning children were honoured with beautiful trophies, mementos and medals. Renowned Sikh personalities were also honoured on the occasion.
On this occasion, the organizers arranged stalls featuring various delicacies and sharbat and sweets. Stalls displaying books providing information about Sikh history were also set up in these pandals. Ravinder Singh Sangha, Harvinder Singh, Diljit Singh, Inderjit Singh, Mandeep Singh, Simran Singh Bains, Upminder Singh, Gur Avtar Singh and others played an effective role in managing the stalls.
At the end, Malkit Singh Dhesi, coordinator of the event, expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone and to the Sangat present in the packed pandal. Bibi Gurwinder Kaur performed the duties of stage host efficiently.
