September 12 to see National Lok Adalat in all courts of the district

Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, September 11:- As per the schedule issued by the National Legal Services Authority, New Delhi, a National Lok Adalat is being organised in all the courts of District Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar on September 12, 2026. The Lok Adalat will be held under the leadership of Shri Atul Kasana, District and Sessions Judge, S.A.S. Nagar.
During this Lok Adalat, compoundable criminal cases, cheque bounce cases, bank recovery cases, matrimonial disputes, M.A.C.T. cases, labour-related disputes, land acquisition cases, matters related to water bills, cases related to the Revenue Department and all types of civil cases will be taken up.
In this regard, as per the directions of the District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairperson, District Legal Services Authority, S.A.S. Nagar, Mrs. Megha Dhaliwal, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, has held meetings from time to time with officials of various departments of the Central and Punjab Governments, banks, insurance companies, the Telephone Department, the Water Supply and Sanitation Department and others. During these meetings, efforts were made to motivate the concerned authorities and parties to settle cases pending in various courts through mutual consent in the National Lok Adalat.
She informed that cases which have not yet been filed in any court and fall under the above-mentioned categories can also be brought before the Lok Adalat for settlement.
Giving information about the benefits of the Lok Adalat, Mrs. Megha Dhaliwal said that in case a matter is settled through the Lok Adalat, the court fee paid is refunded. Besides, generally, there is no appeal against the decision of the Lok Adalat, which saves the concerned parties both time and expense.
