Samvatsari Festival Celebrated at Jain Upasra in Nawanshahr

Nawanshahr, September 16:-The Samvatsari festival was celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm at the Jain Sthanak in Nawanshahr in the presence of Mahasadhvi Shri Swati Ji Maharaj, Shri Supragya Ji, Shri Sudeepti Ji and Shri Suvidhi Ji Maharaj, Thane 4, and under the leadership of President Munish Jain. SS Jain Sabha General Secretary Rattan Kumar Jain said that the continuous chanting of the Mahamantra Navkar has been going on at the Jain Sthanak for the past eight days. Mahasadhvi Shri Swati Ji and Supragya Ji Maharaj have been reciting the Antagadhshang Sutra for the past eight days and explaining it in simple words. Today, 50 members who observed eight fasts and undertook various forms of penance were honoured by the Jain Sabha. As many as 51 members observed the Poshadh fast. On the occasion, SS Jain Sabha President Munish Jain, General Secretary Rattan Kumar Jain, Tripta Jain, Ritu Jain and Hansika Jain shared their thoughts through devotional songs and speeches.
Under the direction of Meenakshi Jain, Shri Ramneek Bal Kala Mandal, children Chiranshi, Vidanshi and Vedika, members of Shri Chandanbala Jain Yuvati Mandal, Meenakshi, Ritu, Nitika, Priyanka, Jyotisha, Shruti, Manavi, Heerak, Samaira, Deepika, Kriti, Sapna, Ginny and Sampada, and members of Shri Mahavir Jain Yuvak Mandal, Rohit, Deepak Mandi, Chandan, Deepak, Pankaj and Puneet, presented a beautiful programme that captivated everyone.
On the occasion, Mahasadhvi Dr. Shri Swati Maharaj said that the Samvatsari festival is also known as the festival of forgiveness. If we have hurt anyone during the past year through our thoughts, words or actions, we seek forgiveness and repent on this day. She said that seeking forgiveness, undertaking penance and chanting during these days helps in purifying past karmas.
Devotees from Ludhiana, Jodha and other areas also came to perform penance and participate in the programme. The stage was conducted by Jain Sabha General Secretary Rattan Kumar Jain. On the occasion, Shri Nem Kumar Jain, Suneer Jain, Sonia Jain and the family of Shri Munilal Jain distributed prasad. Shri Sudeepti Ji Maharaj and Shri Suvidha Ji Maharaj sang devotional songs on the Samvatsari Mahaparva, while Mahasadhvi Shri Swati Ji Maharaj recited the Mangal Path and blessed everyone.
During these eight days, members of SS Jain Sabha, Shri Mahavir Jain Yuvak Mandal, Shri Vardhman Jain Seva Sangh, Prayas Society, Jain Mahila Sangh, Shri Chandanbala Jain Yuvati Mandal and Shri Ramneek Bal Kala Mandal participated actively.
