Punjabi University Contract Teachers Protest in Front of VC Office

Patiala:- Punjabi University Contract Teachers Association protested in front of the Vice Chancellor's Office of the university today to press their demands. The main demand of the protesters is to implement the decision given by the Punjab and Haryana High Court, under which the university has to implement the UGC rules regarding the salary of contract teachers.
The protest was led by Dr. Dalbir Singh and Assistant Professor Surinder Singh. On this occasion, Assistant Professor Ramanpreet Singh, General Secretary of PUKTA, while addressing the teachers, gave detailed information about the demands of the association and the legal action taken so far in this matter.
Ramanpreet Singh said that as per the High Court decision, the university should implement the arrangement regarding the salary of contract teachers as per the UGC rules. He said that the teachers have been waiting for a solution to this matter for a long time.
The leaders of the association demanded from the university administration that the orders of the High Court should be implemented without any further delay and the demands regarding the salary of the contract teachers should be settled soon.
On this occasion, Dr. Dalvir Singh said that the Punjabi University administration is continuously scolding the contract teachers and is tampering with the rules as per its convenience. He said that the demand of the teachers is very clear that the rules of UGC Regulation-2010 and 2018 should be implemented on them and due salary should be given as per these rules.
