Prepare SOP for cleaning GMDA storm water drain and sewerage line Yogesh Kumar

Chandigarh, March 27:- Haryana Pollution Control Board Member Secretary Yogesh Kumar has given special instructions with the aim of making Yamuna clean and pollution-free. To further expedite the ongoing works in Gurugram, Haryana Pollution Control Board Member Secretary Yogesh Kumar held a review meeting in Vikas Sadan on Friday. During the meeting, the action plan prepared to make the drains pollution-free was reviewed in detail.
After receiving a detailed report on the progress of the work from the officials of Haryana Pollution Control Board and Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), Member Secretary Yogesh Kumar directed that all the projects should be completed within the stipulated time and effective results should be ensured at the ground level.
He laid special emphasis on the concerned departments to work in coordination with each other. Shri Yogesh Kumar directed that the combined sampling of STP be conducted again and a detailed report be submitted within 15 days. He said that diversion of untreated water from Leg-III to Leg-II should be ensured within 15 days so that the treated water can be used for irrigation purposes. Besides, he directed GMDA to prepare and submit a Standard Operating Procedure for cleaning of storm water drains and sewerage lines so that illegal connections can be identified and removed.
The Member Secretary also directed that identification and mapping of all pollution points in Leg-II should be completed within three months. He said that proper assessment of solid waste being discharged from drains should be done and complete record should be maintained ensuring its scientific disposal so that it can be effectively used in future monitoring and planning.
Officer Shri Yogesh Kumar also inquired about the activities related to their area of ??work from the officers of Municipal Corporation Gurugram. He directed that a detailed report of newly registered tankers be submitted soon and a special team be constituted for strict action against those operating illegal tankers. Along with this, he directed that a status report of the fencing work being done along the drains be submitted, so that incidents of illegal entry and dumping of waste can be effectively curbed. Along with this, instructions were also given to ensure regular inspection of all STPs and keep their operation as per the prescribed standards.
The officers informed in the meeting that positive progress is being made towards improving the water quality of Yamuna by tapping drains, establishment of STPs and CETPs, effective waste management and strengthening of monitoring system. Shri Yogesh Kumar directed that all the works be completed with quality within the stipulated time, so that the pollution control targets can be achieved effectively.
