Practical Knowledge for Students through Modern Laboratories at the Department of Civil Engineering IK Gujral Punjab Technical University

Jalandhar: The Department of Civil Engineering at the Jalandhar-based I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University is providing modern laboratory facilities to impart quality technical education to its students. In line with this initiative, students gained practical knowledge by conducting various significant experiments in the Geotechnical Engineering Lab and the Transportation Engineering Lab.
Speaking on the occasion, Head of the Department Prof. Rajiv Chauhan addressed the students, stating that experimental learning is a crucial component of engineering education. He explained that the experiments conducted in the laboratories prepare students in accordance with industrial requirements and familiarize them with the techniques utilized in real-world projects.
He also highlighted the utility of key experiments such as Sieve Analysis, Atterberg Limits Test, CBR Test, Soil Compaction Test, Bitumen Testing, and Aggregate Testing. He noted that such experiments assist students in grasping the practical application of industrial equipment alongside their theoretical knowledge.
Dr. Ranjit Singh, Mr. Salinder Singh, and Mr. Lovepreet Singh were also present during the event. They encouraged the students to make the most of the laboratory facilities and commended them for their enthusiasm.
The objective of the Department of Civil Engineering is to prepare students for the industry and to strengthen their technical skills—a goal towards which the department continuously directs its educational efforts.
