Pobowal Pond to Be Developed as a Picnic Spot

Una, September 7:- Una Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal on Monday inspected the beautification work of the old pond in Gram Panchayat Pobowal of Haroli subdivision. He directed the Panchayat to initiate the tender process soon for its further development so that the pond premises can be developed as an attractive and picturesque picnic spot for children, youth, elderly people and families.
The Deputy Commissioner said that traditional water sources are part of the natural heritage of an area. If the surrounding areas are made convenient and attractive along with their conservation, these can become better centres of recreation and community activities for local people. He directed that quality and planned development should be ensured in the beautification of the pond.
It is noteworthy that continuous work is being undertaken in the Haroli area towards the conservation and beautification of traditional water sources. In accordance with the vision of Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, efforts are being made to give a new look to several such old ponds in the area, so that along with conserving the water sources, the surrounding areas can also be improved for public use.
The Deputy Commissioner said that Pobowal Pond should not be confined merely to a water source; rather, an environment should be developed around it where people can spend time with their families. He directed the Panchayat to take forward the development works in a time-bound manner.
On this occasion, Gram Panchayat Pobowal Pradhan Suman Lal, former Pradhan Santosh Das Bittu, SDM Haroli Vishal Sharma and BDO Mukesh Kumar, along with other officers and local representatives, were present.
