PGI Engineers Association Organises 5th Blood Donation Camp on Engineers Day

Chandigarh, September 15:- The PGI Engineers Association, Chandigarh organised its 5th blood donation camp at PGIMER, Chandigarh on September 15, 2026, to mark Engineers’ Day.
Prof. Vivek Lal, Director, PGIMER, Chandigarh, was the Chief Guest and inaugurated the blood donation camp. He also donated blood himself and appreciated the charitable work of the PGI Engineers Association for this noble cause. Shri Pankaj Rai, DDA; Prof. Ashok Kumar, Medical Superintendent; Prof. (Dr.) Ratti Ram Sharma, Head, Department of Transfusion Medicine; and Prof. Sameer Aggarwal, Professor In-charge, Engineering, were also present on the occasion.
Around 400 voluntary blood donors donated blood, while 70 prospective donors were deferred during the medical screening conducted before donation.
Er. Tanuj Poswal, President, PGI Engineers Association, Chandigarh, expressed his deep gratitude to Prof. (Dr.) Vivek Lal and all other dignitaries and representatives for taking out their valuable time to attend the camp. He also expressed his gratitude to Prof. (Dr.) Ratti Ram Sharma and his team from the Department of Transfusion Medicine, as well as all voluntary blood donors, for their valuable contribution to this noble cause.
Er. Bindiya Verma, General Secretary, PGI Engineers Association, Chandigarh, also thanked Er. Sanjeev Sharma, Er. P. S. Gill, Er. Rajneesh Mittal, Er. Inderjit Singh, Shri Sarabjit Singh, Er. Hemlata Meena, Er. Deepesh Gupta, Er. Praveen Chaudhary, Er. Lalit Vashisht and other members of the Association for their valuable efforts and active participation in the successful organisation of the camp.
Engineers’ Day is celebrated in India every year on September 15 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sir M. Visvesvaraya, one of India’s most distinguished engineers. A renowned civil engineer and statesman, Sir M. Visvesvaraya made outstanding contributions to the development of the country. In recognition of his exceptional contribution to nation-building, he was conferred the Bharat Ratna in 1955.
The blood donation camp reflects the spirit of social responsibility and community service and highlights the important role of engineers and healthcare professionals in supporting life-saving healthcare services.
