Performance of SubDivision Sangrur District Sangrur from 01092026 to 07092026

Sangrur, 09 September:- Dr. Ravjot Grewal IPS, SSP Sangrur, informed the press that during the campaign launched by Sangrur District Police under “War Against Drugs” and “Village Watchmen” and against anti-social elements, the police of Sub-Division Sangrur took action during the past week from 01.09.2026 to 07.09.2026. During this period, one case was registered under the Narcotic Drugs category against unknown persons and 110 Kg of poppy husk was recovered. Further, one case was registered under the Excise Act, one accused was arrested and 48 bottles of country liquor were recovered from his possession. To help persons trapped in drug addiction get rid of drugs, medication was provided to 06 persons. As many as 11 accused were also arrested under heinous crimes and other offences.
A total of 174 traffic challans were issued for various offences committed by vehicles violating traffic rules. After checking suspected persons, action under Section 172 BNSS was taken against 270 persons.
Along with appealing to the general public to cooperate in the anti-drug campaign, meetings are being held with Panchayats, Sports Clubs and respectable members of society to create awareness among the general public and youth about the harmful effects of drugs and the need to provide timely information to the police regarding drug-related activities, so that the menace of drugs can be completely eradicated from its roots. Immediate legal action is being taken against drug traffickers and anti-social elements whenever information is received, and concrete efforts are being made to prevent drug abuse. The war against drugs continues.
