No mention of farming just a barrage of promises Ratanman furious over antifarmer budget

Karnal, March 2:- Bharatiya Kisan Union state president Ratanman termed the Haryana government's 2026-27 budget as anti-farmer and anti-rural, saying it was completely disconnected from ground realities. He alleged that the government made tall claims, but made no concrete and clear provisions for increasing farmers' income, remunerative prices for crops, loan waivers, or expanding irrigation facilities.
Ratanman said that farmers are the backbone of the state's economy, but the budget lacks the expected increase for the agricultural sector. He demanded that the Minimum Support Price (MSP) be implemented with a legal guarantee for all crops, including wheat and paddy, and that a special subsidy package be provided to mitigate the rising costs of diesel, fertilizers, seeds, and pesticides.
The BKU state president stated that the compensation process for farmers affected by natural disasters should be simple and transparent. The shortcomings in the crop insurance scheme should be addressed and claims should be paid within the stipulated timeframe. He also criticized the government for broken roads, canal cleaning, and irregularities in power supply in rural areas.
Ratnaman alleged that the government is focusing more on industry and urban development, while the basic problems of villages remain unresolved. He warned that if farmers' demands are not reconsidered in the budget, panchayats will be held across the state to outline a movement.
He stated that the Bharatiya Kisan Union will soon organize district-level meetings to determine future strategies, and if necessary, a larger movement will be launched. The fight for farmers' rights and dignity will continue under all circumstances.
