Sherpur/Sangrur, 29 July:- Under Mission Aarambh by Department of Social Security, Women and Child Development, Punjab, with objective of promoting early development of children from 0 to 3 years, "Nikke Kadam" pilot project has been launched in Block Sherpur. In this regard under leadership of District Programme Officer Sangrur Pardeep Singh Gill, two-day training programme was organized on 28 and 29 July for all Anganwadi workers of Block Sherpur.
During training, Mission Aarambh team gave detailed information to Anganwadi workers about working and objectives of "Nikke Kadam" pilot project. On this occasion CDPO Sherpur Kiranpreet Kaur told that main purpose of this project is to connect parents of children from 0 to 3 years with early development of children and to promote home-based learning, so that all-round development of children can be further strengthened.
Anganwadi workers were also given practical demo regarding use of "Nikke Kadam" platform. They were told that they will connect eligible families of their respective area with WhatsApp group of "Nikke Kadam" by getting QR code scanned. After joining group, registration will be done by obtaining information from parents about child's name, date of birth and gender, whose confirmation will be received immediately to parents.
During training it was told that after registration, parents will be sent special videos every Sunday as per child's age through WhatsApp. In these videos information will be given about children's intellectual, linguistic, social, emotional and physical development along with play-based learning activities, so that parents can play active role in all-round development of their children at home itself.
At end of each video a small question will also be included for parents, through which they will be able to show their understanding regarding information given in video. Parents who regularly participate in project will also be provided digital certificates by department. During training it was also clarified that if in a family there are two children in age 0 to 3 years then younger child will be connected with project on priority basis. If two smartphones are available in family then separate registration of both children can also be done.
District Programme Officer Shri Pardeep Singh Gill said that first three years of child's life are strong foundation of his all-round development. He said that "Nikke Kadam" pilot project is an important effort towards making parents active participants in early development of children. He appealed to all Anganwadi workers to make this successful by connecting maximum eligible families with this project and ensure all-round development of children.
