Newly Constructed Road in Mamdot Exposes Questions Over Quality of Work
Mamdot/Firozpur, September 15:- The outer road of Mamdot town, which was constructed with cement and gravel a few months ago, now appears to be deteriorating within a short period. Local residents allege that the contractor engaged in the construction work did not use the required quantity of material, due to which the gravel started coming loose within just a few days and lakhs of rupees of government funds went to waste.
Commuters said that the poor condition of the road is causing considerable difficulties during travel. They demanded that the road construction work be thoroughly investigated and appropriate action be taken against those responsible. The residents also demanded that the road be repaired and reconstructed using the required material so that the general public can get relief.
In this matter, Sucha Singh, Senior Assistant of the Nagar Panchayat Mamdot, stated that the construction of the said road was carried out by the Public Works Department. On the other hand, PWD SDO Rajinder Kakkar denied this claim and said that the work was not carried out by his department; rather, the road falls under the jurisdiction of Nagar Panchayat Mamdot.
The contradiction between the departmental claims has raised several questions regarding responsibility for the road construction and the quality of the work.
