National Lok Adalat to be held in the district on September 12

Una, August 25: A National Lok Adalat will be organized on September 12 at the District and Sessions Court, Una, and the court complex in the Amb subdivision. Through the National Lok Adalat, the speedy and effective resolution of various types of cases will be ensured based on mutual agreement and consent.
Shikha Lakhanpal, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Una, provided this information. She stated that the National Lok Adalat would hear and resolve cases such as compoundable criminal offenses, civil disputes, cheque bounce cases, consumer complaints, and matters related to motor vehicle challans (including recovery of dues).
She added that efforts would also be made to resolve road accident compensation claims, electricity and water-related disputes, matrimonial disputes, and land acquisition cases through mutual consent. Even cases that have not yet been filed in court can be presented and resolved in the Lok Adalat through the pre-litigation process.
The Secretary noted that the Lok Adalat is an effective medium for the speedy and amicable resolution of disputes. It saves time and money for the parties involved and enables the resolution of disputes through mutual agreement. No court fee is charged for resolving cases in the Lok Adalat, and court fees paid in older cases are refunded in accordance with the rules. There is no "winner" or "loser" in the Lok Adalat process; instead, the dispute is resolved with the consent of both parties.
She urged the general public to take advantage of the National Lok Adalat for the speedy resolution of their pending or pre-litigation cases. Interested individuals can apply to the respective courts in the district to have their cases resolved.
She further mentioned that a special public awareness campaign regarding the National Lok Adalat is being conducted. As part of this campaign, information about the benefits and procedures of the Lok Adalat is being disseminated to the public through local bodies, the police, the transport department, financial institutions, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), para-legal volunteers, and ASHA/Anganwadi workers.
