Minors tributaries and drains cleaned on need basis Bedi
Chandigarh, September 1:- Haryana Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Shri Krishan Kumar Bedi said that minors, tributaries and drains have been cleaned on need basis in Baroda assembly constituency. He said that there are 24 minors/tributaries and 37 drains in this area. Irrigation water is supplied to these minors and tributaries through Anta Head/Butana Branch and Khubru Head/Bhalot Sub-Branch.
The Social Justice and Empowerment Minister gave this information in response to a question asked by MLA Induraj Singh Narwal during the Question Hour during the monsoon session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha today.
Mr. Bedi informed that 22 minors/drainages were cleaned before Kharif season 2025-26 at a cost of Rs. 204.60 lakhs. Similarly, 20 minors/drainages were cleaned before Rabi season 2025-26 at a cost of Rs. 41.45 lakhs. In the year 2026-27, 17 minors/drainages were cleaned before Kharif season at a cost of Rs. 47.25 lakhs.
He informed that 32 drains were cleaned in the year 2025-26 at a cost of Rs. 69.35 lakhs and 34 drains were cleaned in the year 2026-27 at a cost of Rs. 90.03 lakhs.
Mr. Bedi clarified that cleaning of minors, drains and drains is done on the basis of need. Canals and drains in which no obstruction was found were not included in the cleaning work. He said that the government's objective is to provide sufficient water for irrigation to farmers and to keep the canal and drainage system smooth and effective.
