Memorandum Submitted to SDM by Model Town Residents Welfare Association Ratia

Ratia, August 27: A delegation from the Model Town Residents' Welfare Association, Ratia, led by President Satpal Mangla, submitted a memorandum to the SDM regarding the issue of contaminated drinking water in Model Town. Other members present in the delegation included Association Secretary Vinod Jain, Ram Kumar Mehta, and Leela Krishna Jain. Through the memorandum, the Association highlighted that the water supplied to Model Town is often muddy, foul-smelling, and mixed with sand; it is unfit not only for drinking but even for daily household use. Due to the contaminated water, residents face a looming threat of waterborne diseases, raising concerns about public health.
The Association urged the administration to immediately inspect the water supply system, clean the pipelines, and have water samples tested in a laboratory. Association President Satpal Mangla stated that it is the administration's moral obligation to provide clean and potable water to the residents. He warned that if the contaminated water issue is not resolved in time, it could pose a serious threat to public health.
Additionally, the Association reiterated its demand to permanently place both the water supply and sewerage systems of Model Town under the jurisdiction of a single department. The Association argued that consolidating the entire system under one department would ensure accountability and facilitate a more effective, permanent resolution to the problems.
The delegation urged the SDM to take immediate, necessary action and ensure the provision of clean and safe drinking water to the residents of Model Town. Acknowledging the seriousness of the matter, the SDM assured the delegation that necessary directives would be issued to the concerned department to resolve the contaminated water issue on a priority basis.
