Major Action Against Illegal Water and Sewerage Connections in Ratia

Ratia, September 10:-As part of the campaign being conducted by the Public Health Engineering Department against illegal drinking water and sewerage connections, 18 illegal connections were disconnected today in Ward No. 12 of Ratia city. The department team took action on the spot and shut down the illegally operated drinking water and sewerage connections.
Sharma Chand Lali, District Advisor, Public Health Engineering Department, Fatehabad, said that action against illegal connection holders will continue in all cities of the district, including Fatehabad, Ratia, Tohana, Bhuna and Jakhal. He said that those who have not yet got their water and sewerage connections approved should get their connections legalised at the earliest. Otherwise, action will be taken by the department as per rules.
He said that currently, the fee for a drinking water connection is ?1,000 and the fee for a sewerage connection is ?500. Meanwhile, the government has currently waived road-cut charges of up to approximately ?10,000. He said that citizens should take advantage of this facility and get their connections approved at the earliest, as the road-cut charges may be reintroduced in the future.
For getting the connections approved, the required documents are the registry, Family ID, Aadhaar Card, Voter ID and a photograph taken while standing in front of the house with GPS location.
Sharma Chand Lali said that the objective of the department is not to harass anyone, but to streamline the city’s drinking water and sewerage system and curb illegal connections. He appealed to all citizens to cooperate with the department and get their connections legalised at the earliest.
During the action, Junior Engineer Durgesh Kumar, Prithvi Singh, Block Coordinator Kuldeep Singh, President Shamsher Singh Kundu, Dalbir Singh Dholu, Pawan Kumar, Jagdish Kumar, Rammehar Singh, Karn Singh and other employees and associates were present.
