KVK organises training course on scientific management of paddy straw residue
Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, September 11:- Under the initiative for scientific management of paddy straw residue, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, S.A.S. Nagar organised a training course at village Matthiara under the guidance of Director Dr. Balbir Singh Khadda. The objective of the training course was to familiarise farmers with methods for proper management of paddy straw in the fields.
During the training course, Dr. Balbir Singh Khadda highlighted the activities of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra and proper management of paddy straw.
Dr. Harmeet Kaur shared information about the use of machines such as Happy Seeder, Super Seeder and Smart Seeder for paddy straw management. Dr. Parul Gupta provided information about the adverse effects of burning paddy straw on the environment and its utilisation at the industrial level.
Dr. Jaspreet Singh, Agriculture Development Officer, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, informed the farmers about ongoing schemes and subsidies for machinery used for paddy straw management. Dr. Munish Sharma, Assistant Professor, delivered a lecture on the proper utilisation of paddy straw in horticultural crops. Dr. Komal highlighted the use of paddy straw as animal feed. At the end of the programme, the villagers thanked the team of KVK, Mohali and assured that they would not burn paddy straw in the future.
