Khalsa College organized Amrita Sahitya Samvad event dedicated to Amrita Pritams birthday
Garhshankar organized ‘Amrita Sahitya Samvad’ event dedicated to the birthday of renowned Punjabi writer, poet and novelist Amrita Pritam under the leadership of Principal Dr. Amandeep Hira.
During the event organized with the aim of connecting the students with Amrita Pritam’s life, literary works and her significant contribution to Punjabi literature, Head of Punjabi Department Dr. Navjot Kaur shared detailed information about Amrita Pritam’s life, works and literary contribution. She said that Amrita Pritam, through her pen, expressed the inner world of a woman, her pains, struggles and dreams with honesty and provided a new sensibility to Punjabi literature.
Principal Dr. Amandeep Hira, while praising this initiative of the Punjabi department, said that Amrita Pritam was not only a famous poetess, but she was a versatile writer and a personality who thought ahead of her time. She spoke about the rights of women, their feelings and their existence through her pen. Along with this, she also presented the pain of the 1947 partition and the human tragedy with great sensitivity in her works.
She motivated the students to read Amrita Pritam's works and take inspiration from her thinking to move forward in their lives. On this occasion, students Jaspreet Kaur, Rajwinder Kaur and Anjali shared the literary personality of Amrita Pritam and the thoughts related to her works through their works.
Finally, Dr. Kanwaljit Kaur, while sharing her words of gratitude, thanked Principal Dr. Amandeep Hira for his efforts in the field of literature. While conducting the event, Prof. Saurav Dadri expressed his views on various aspects of Amrita Pritam's life and literature.
On this occasion, Prof. Lakhwinderjit Kaur, Prof. Priyanka and other staff members and students were present.
