Inspector General of Police Vimal Gupta Reviews Preparations for AntiChitta Walkathon
Una, August 29: Himachal Pradesh Police Inspector General Vimal Gupta reviewed the preparations for the 'Anti-Chitta' (anti-synthetic drug) walkathon at the Indira Gandhi Sports Stadium in Una on Saturday. The event aims to raise public awareness against drug abuse and convey a message to the youth to stay away from drugs. He inspected the venue, gathered details regarding the arrangements for the walkathon, and issued necessary directives to the concerned officials.
He stated that the proposed route for the walkathon—to be held under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu—will start from the Indira Gandhi Sports Stadium, proceed via the Bedi Petrol Pump to the ISBT (Inter-State Bus Terminal) Una, and conclude with the participants returning to the stadium. The Inspector General reviewed various arrangements, including facilities and security for participating children, traffic management, and other logistical aspects. He instructed all concerned departments to ensure that arrangements are executed efficiently and in a timely manner through mutual coordination.
During the inspection, detailed discussions were held regarding entry and exit points at the stadium, refreshments for the children, the setup of two health check-up booths by the Health Department, and the release of balloons at the venue. He emphasized that the comfort and safety of the children and other participants must be given top priority during the event.
The Inspector General stated that public participation plays a crucial role in the success of the campaign against drug abuse. Such awareness programs not only highlight the adverse effects of drugs on society but also inspire the youth to adopt a healthy and positive lifestyle. He urged the general public, especially the youth, to join the 'Anti-Chitta' campaign and contribute actively towards building a drug-free society. Officials from various departments were present on this occasion, including DIG (Daroh) Khushal Sharma, SP Sachin Hiremath, ADC Ishant Jaswal, IRBN Bangarh Commandant Aakriti Sharma, Una Municipal Corporation Commissioner Prithipal Singh, CMO Dr. Sanjeev Verma, and Joint Commissioner (Industries) Anshul Dhiman.
