Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh holds highlevel review meeting in Gurugram

Chandigarh, May 4:- Haryana Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh held an important review meeting with the officials of GMDA and Municipal Corporation Gurugram at the Public Works Department Rest House in Gurugram on Monday. In this meeting, a detailed review of the city's basic amenities like sanitation, drainage, road and infrastructure and drinking water supply was conducted. GMDA Chief Executive Officer PC Meena and Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya along with officials of both the departments were present in the meeting.
In the meeting, the Minister directed the officials that the pace of development works in Gurugram should be accelerated and the common public should not face any kind of problem. He especially emphasized on the permanent solution to the problem of waterlogging before the monsoon.

Instructions to ensure proper preparations to deal with waterlogging
Cabinet Minister Rao Narbir Singh, while reviewing the drainage system, said that cleaning, de-silting and network of all major drains should be completed in a timely manner so that the problem of waterlogging does not arise during the monsoon. Officials informed that three major drains are functioning in the city under the Master Drainage Network and work is going on at a fast pace in most areas. Construction of drainage system in several important projects like sectors 68-75 and 112-115 is in progress.
Instructions to expedite road and infrastructure works
The meeting reviewed the construction and repair works of roads. Officials said that road related works worth about Rs. 447 crore are going on in the GMDA area, while works worth Rs. 1271 crore are in the process of allotment. Apart from this, many new projects worth Rs 1870 crore are in the approval and planning stages. The Minister directed that all ongoing projects should be completed within the stipulated time frame, especially the work of service roads, sector dividing roads and master roads along with Dwarka Expressway should be given priority.

Special focus on sanitation and waste management
Reviewing the sanitation system, Rao said that maintaining cleanliness in the city should be the top priority. Information was given about the efforts being made by the Municipal Corporation for door-to-door garbage collection, road sweeping and waste disposal. It was informed that door-to-door collection is being done in the city through 400 vehicles and about 540 km of roads are being cleaned every day through mechanized road sweeping machines. The Minister directed that no negligence in waste disposal will be tolerated and regular monitoring should be ensured.

Emphasis on further strengthening of drinking water supply system
While reviewing the drinking water supply situation in the meeting, it was informed that the total water treatment capacity of GMDA in Gurugram is 670 MLD, out of which about 455 MLD of water is being supplied by the existing Municipal Corporation. The Minister directed the officials to strengthen alternative arrangements and monitoring mechanisms to ensure that there is no shortage of water during the summer season.
To ensure timely resolution of public problems
At the end of the meeting, Industries Minister Rao Narbir Singh gave clear instructions that the paddy development works in Gurugram should be completed on priority basis. He said that the authorities should be active in the field, monitor the works and ensure prompt resolution of public grievances so that Gurugram can be made a better city.
