Indri, September 15:- The Department of School Education organised the ‘My Future–My Decision’ career counselling programme at Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Indri, on Tuesday. Deputy Commissioner Dr. Anand Kumar Sharma, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Saloni Sharma and Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rahul Raiya attended the programme as chief guests.
The programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the guests. During the event, the officials interacted directly with girl students from Classes 9 to 12. The students freely asked the officials questions related to careers, and the officials answered their queries and guided them. They encouraged the students to choose careers according to their interests, abilities and qualifications and to set goals and work consistently towards achieving them.

Career Counselling Plays an Important Role in Providing Right Direction to Students: DC
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Anand Kumar Sharma said that every student should have a clear goal in life. Career counselling plays an important role in providing students with the right direction. He said that career selection should not be made under pressure, but should be decided thoughtfully on the basis of one's interests and abilities, along with guidance from parents.
He gave important suggestions to students regarding preparation for competitive examinations and said that school textbooks provide a strong foundation. School and undergraduate-level education is extremely important for preparing for competitive examinations such as the civil services. Students should develop the habit of regularly reading newspapers, enhancing general knowledge and staying informed about current affairs. The Deputy Commissioner informed the students that the ‘My Future–My Decision’ counselling magazine is available in the school. Through this magazine, students can obtain information about various career options and the necessary details related to them. They can also seek career guidance from the nodal officer appointed in the school.

Choose Subjects and Careers According to Interest and Ability: Municipal Corporation Commissioner
Municipal Corporation Commissioner Saloni Sharma said that Class 10 is an important stage in the life of students. At this level, students should seriously think about the direction of their future and career. She said that students should choose subjects and careers according to their interests and abilities.
During the programme, she also shared her life experiences with the girl students and explained how she achieved her goal through continuous hard work, self-confidence, discipline and by facing challenges. She said there is no shortcut to success; continuous effort and firm determination towards one's goal are essential. Encouraging the students, she said that whatever the circumstances may be, if the goal is clear and there is a strong determination to achieve it, success can certainly be attained.
She said that students should not choose a career under social or family pressure. A career chosen according to one's interests, qualifications and abilities provides long-term success and satisfaction. The real foundation of success is hard work, dedication, self-confidence and the ability to face challenges courageously.

Students Should Set Goals and Make Consistent Efforts: ADC Dr. Rahul Raiya
Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rahul Raiya, while addressing the students, said that setting a goal in life and making continuous efforts to achieve it are essential for success. He advised students to pay special attention to time management, discipline and personality development.
He said that students should identify their talents and interests and prepare a plan for the future. Instead of limiting themselves to a single career option, they should gather information about opportunities available in different fields. With proper guidance and a positive outlook, students can give better direction to their future.

Students Interested in Medical Field to Visit Kalpana Chawla Medical College
During the career counselling programme, the girl students showed particular curiosity about medical subjects and the healthcare field. Considering their interest, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Anand Kumar Sharma said that an educational visit to Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College and Hospital, Karnal, would be organised for the students this month. During the visit, students will be informed about various career options available in the medical field, medical education and the functioning of the hospital, enabling them to make better decisions about pursuing a career in the medical field.
On the occasion, District Education Officer Rohtash Verma, BEO Gurnam Singh, school teachers and a large number of girl students were present.
