Indias naval strength will be boosted

New Delhi: Indian Navy Chief Admiral DK Tripathi said that India will soon commission its third indigenous nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine, named 'Aridman'.
Called 'Ship Submersible Ballistic Nuclear' in naval parlance, India has already inducted two such submarines, INS Arihant and INS Arighat. These are nuclear-powered submarines and can remain submerged for several days.
Apart from the SSBN, India is also looking to acquire a nuclear-powered attack submarine from Russia. Sources said that it is expected to reach India by 2027.
Meanwhile, the Admiral said that 51 ships are under construction in Indian shipyards. The Ministry of Defense has also approved the construction of 47 more aircraft.
