Health Checkup Camp Organised for HighRisk Pregnant Women
Bathinda, 9 September 2026:- Under the directions of Civil Surgeon Bathinda Dr. Tapinderjot, the Health Department Bathinda organised a special health camp under the Pradhan Mantri Matritva Abhiyan at the Mother and Child Hospital with the objective of conducting regular health check-ups of pregnant women, identifying high-risk pregnant women and providing them with the required health facilities in a timely manner.
Giving information in this regard, Civil Surgeon Dr. Tapinderjot said that during the camp, pregnant women were made aware of the importance of nutritious food during pregnancy, iron and calcium tablets, getting regular check-ups and the need for institutional delivery. Along with this, they were also informed about the harmful effects of market-bought junk food and cold drinks on health, as well as the harmful effects of using plastic utensils during pregnancy. Expert doctors and health workers conducted detailed health check-ups of pregnant women. During this, blood pressure, haemoglobin, blood sugar and other tests, as required, were also conducted. Pregnant women were also provided information regarding a balanced diet, use of iron-folic acid tablets, regular check-ups and precautions during pregnancy.
Dr. Chhavinder Singh said that the main objective of the Pradhan Mantri Matritva Abhiyan is to provide quality and free maternal health services to every pregnant woman. Special emphasis is placed on timely identification of high-risk pregnant women, ensuring their monitoring and referral to higher-level health institutions whenever required.
On this occasion, Deputy Mass Media Officer Lakhwinder Singh Kaith appealed to pregnant women to get their health checked regularly during pregnancy and make maximum use of the free health services available at government health institutions. The Health Department is continuously organising such camps to ensure the safety and well-being of mothers and children. On this occasion, Counsellor Charanpal Kaur and ANM Rajwinder Kaur were present.
