First Aid Disaster Management and Civil Defence Training Essential for Saving Lives

Patiala, 9 September:- The United Nations and the Red Cross are observing First Aid and CPR Awareness Week worldwide from September 7 to 12 to provide training to the maximum number of students, teachers and citizens. Chief Trainer of the First Aid, Safety and Health Awareness Mission, Shri Kaka Ram Verma, while addressing students at Government Senior Secondary Smart School, Model Town, highlighted the importance of providing proper and immediate first aid, CPR, recovery position, ventilator artificial respiration and ABCD during any accident to prevent victims from dying or becoming disabled. These measures prove highly beneficial in keeping victims alive until they reach hospitals. As required, it is essential to seek assistance by calling ambulance, fire brigade and police helpline numbers.
He said that training should be taken to become “helping angels” for rescuing victims trapped in sudden natural, seasonal and human-made disasters, domestic incidents, heart attacks, cardiac arrests, unconsciousness, fires, gases, smoke, water and debris.
Dr. Rakesh Varmi, President, honoured the school Principal, Shri Rajesh Modi, as an outstanding educationist and said that if any student or person helps in saving a victim, they are honoured by Dedicated Brothers Group, Patiala, with a certificate of appreciation and a gold medal.
Principal Shri Rajesh Modi expressed his gratitude and said that everyone should undergo training and help victims in order to prevent the increasing number of accidents and sudden deaths.
