Firing between retired police officer and AAP leader

Amritsar:- A bloody clash broke out in broad daylight in Amritsar over a car parking space. A retired police officer and his neighbour - an AAP leader - got into a fight. What started as a verbal argument escalated to a physical altercation and sword-waving, which eventually turned into gunfire. Both sides opened fire on each other.
During the scuffle, a man's turban came off, after which several youths started brandishing swords. In the ensuing gunfire, the AAP leader and another person were hit by bullets and have been admitted to the hospital. According to the police, the investigation into the matter is currently underway.
Amritsar SP (East) Devendra Singh said that the police received a report of gunfire in the Kot Atamram area between 1:30 pm and 2:00 pm on Thursday. On reaching the spot, an investigation was launched. Initial investigation revealed that the retired police officer, Tejinder Singh, had parked a Thar SUV in front of the officer’s house – the spot was adjacent to the house of his neighbour, AAP leader Jaipal Singh.
The SP said that the retired officer, Tejinder Singh, got into a confrontation with the youth over parking; the conversation soon turned into a fight between the two. During the argument, Tejinder Singh’s turban came off during an attack by Jaipal Singh’s son, who later left the spot. Later, the son called his father and brother, who reached the spot armed with a *kirpan* (ceremonial sword) and a pistol. This led to another physical altercation and clash between the two groups.
During the ensuing clash, Jaipal Singh fired a shot, which hit Narinder Singh – Tejinder Singh’s accomplice – in the leg. Conversely, a bullet fired by the opposition hit Jaipal Singh in the leg. According to police, two people - one from each side - were shot in the legs and are currently hospitalized. Their condition is said to be out of danger.
