Ferozepur:- An atmosphere of terror prevailed in village Bajidpur near Ferozepur today when the head of the family shot himself after shooting his wife and son. At present, the condition of all three is critical and they have been referred to DMC Hospital in Ludhiana.
According to the information, a farmer of the village, Jagjit Singh son of Gurmej Singh, allegedly shot his 35-year-old wife Navneet Kaur and 4-year-old innocent son Warisdeep Singh with his licensed revolver. After firing at the family, the farmer also tried to commit suicide by shooting himself with the same revolver. Hearing the sound of gunshots, panic spread in the area.
All three members of the family were seriously injured in this bloody incident. They were immediately admitted to a private hospital in Ferozepur, but since their condition was very critical, the doctors referred them to a bigger hospital in Ludhiana after giving them first aid. At present, the condition of all three is said to be very critical.
As soon as the information about the incident was received, DSP Sub-Division Ferozepur Karan Sharma along with the police force reached the spot. The police are trying to find out the real reasons behind the incident. Police officials say that the matter is being investigated thoroughly whether the farmer took this step due to mental distress or there is some other reason. At present, the police are examining all the facts before reaching any conclusion. According to the people of the village, Jagjit Singh is a happy farmer. He has his own land and used to do agriculture by taking land on contract. Neighbors say that they have never seen Jagjit Singh in any trouble or stress. This sudden incident in such a happy family has surprised everyone.
