Farmers Sitting in Permanent Protest Hold Meeting with Administration
Patiala, September 11:- The permanent protest by the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ekta-Ugrahan) entered its thirteenth day today. A meeting of the union’s district committee was held today with the Deputy Commissioner and SSP of Patiala in a cordial atmosphere. The meeting lasted for about one hour, during which the farmers’ demands were discussed.
Regarding the damage caused to approximately 19,000 acres due to dwarf plants last year, the administration informed that a reminder would again be sent to the government regarding payment of compensation, and a copy of the reminder was provided on the spot. It was also decided to meet the government again regarding compensation for Patran and Block Patiala-2.
Regarding cases registered against farmers of the district in connection with various struggles, the SSP Patiala assured that detailed information would be obtained regarding their withdrawal and the matter would be resolved.
In addition, officials present at the meeting held discussions in detail regarding the farmers’ demands related to various other departments, including the Cooperative Department, Electricity Board and Agriculture Department, and efforts would be made to resolve these issues within fifteen days.
The meeting was held under the leadership of District Senior Vice-President Jagdeep Singh Chhanna. Sukhmandar Singh Baran, Jagmel Singh Gajewas, Balraj Joshi, Avtar Singh Burar, Makkhan Singh Kalvanu, Baljit Singh Kalhemajra, Jaswinder Saluwal, Bharpur Singh, Randhir Singh Gajewas, Avtar Singh Phagganmajra, Hardeep Singh Droli, Prem Lalochhi and Baldev Singh were present.
Outside, in front of the office, Harmandeep Singh Nandpur Kesho conducted the protest stage, where various speakers elaborated on the farmers’ demands.
