Ensure timely availability of quality wheat seeds and fertilizers to farmers Agriculture Minister

Chandigarh, August 20:- Haryana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shri Shyam Singh Rana has directed the officials to ensure timely availability of quality wheat seeds and fertilizers to farmers for the upcoming Rabi season. He directed to conduct physical verification of the machines provided by the government on subsidy for residue management under the stubble management scheme and to transfer the subsidy amount to the farmers' accounts as soon as possible.
Shri Rana was chairing a meeting of officials to review the availability of fertilizers and seeds for crops at his office here today.
The meeting was attended by Director of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department Shri Rajnarayan Kaushik, Additional Director and Director (Additional Charge) of Haryana State Seed Certification Agency Dr. Rampratap Sihag, Additional Director Dr. Pradeep Meel and other officials.
Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shri Shyam Singh Rana was informed in the meeting that the raw seed of wheat is about 40 lakh 64 thousand quintals, while only 17-18 lakh quintals of seed can be sown in the state. The process of processing and certification of this raw seed is going on and this seed will be ready by September. The required number of seeds is available for the wheat sowing to be done in October.
Shri Rana directed the officials to also make preparations to provide good quality seeds to the farmers for the gram and lentil crops so that the farmers can get good income from the sale of these pulses.
He directed the officials to keep sufficient stock of fertilizers like Urea, DAP and NPK for the upcoming Rabi season crops so that the farmers can get timely availability for sowing and growing their crops.
The Agriculture Minister was informed that till date 2,34,712 metric tons of Urea, 55,081 metric tons of DAP, 35,049 metric tons of NPK and 59,610 metric tons of SSP are available in stock. Shri Rana said that linking the fertilizer distribution work with the "Meri Fasal Mera Biura" portal has benefited the farmers, there is no shortage of fertilizer. Along with this, the Central Government has also saved Rs. 863 crore in the form of subsidy savings for which the Central Government had highly appreciated this step taken by the Haryana Government. Shri Shyam Singh Rana reviewed in detail the machines provided to the farmers under the "Crop Residue Management" scheme under the National Agricultural Development Scheme and directed the officials to make the farmers aware not to burn stubble. Along with this, he directed to make available the machines like Super Seeder, Baling Machine, Happy Seeder, Shrub Master, Zero Till Seed Cum Fertilizer Drill and other machines provided for management on time. He said that immediately after the purchase of the machine by the farmers, physical verification of the machine should be done and the subsidy of that machine should be sent to their bank account as soon as possible. He directed the officers to ensure timely availability of the machines used in fertilizer, seeds and stubble management to the farmers.
