Districtlevel event held in Badhera on International Yoga Day 600 participants practice yoga

Una, June 21: A district-level yoga event was organized on Sunday at the Himcaps Nursing and Law College campus in Badhera to mark International Yoga Day. Held in line with this year's theme, 'Yoga for Healthy Ageing,' the event featured a one-hour yoga session from 6:30 AM to 7:30 AM, in which approximately 600 participants—including trainees, students, officials and employees from various departments, and local residents—enthusiastically took part.
Chief Guest and Assistant Commissioner Vinay Modi stated that yoga is an invaluable discipline gifted by our sages, which has earned India's ancient tradition of knowledge a distinct identity on the global stage. He remarked that the mantra "Practice Yoga, Stay Disease-Free" is the key to a healthy and balanced life. He emphasized that the youth, in particular, should make yoga a part of their lifestyle, as regular practice fosters positive energy in the body and mind, enhances concentration, and inspires individuals to lead a stress-free and disciplined life.
He noted that the youth are the pivot of societal and national development. Yoga strengthens them physically and mentally, preparing them to fulfill their social responsibilities. The positive mindset cultivated through yoga also reinforces respect for parents, sensitivity, and an awareness of family values ??among the youth.
During the event, yoga instructors from the AYUSH Department guided participants through various *asanas* (postures) and *pranayama* (breathing exercises) and explained the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of yoga.
District Ayurveda Officer Dr. Kiran Sharma stated that, in the lead-up to International Yoga Day, yoga camps and awareness programs had been organized at various locations across the district over the past month as part of pre-event activities. In these camps, yoga instructors and doctors from the AYUSH Department educated people about the importance of yoga and the benefits of practicing it regularly. Urging people to make yoga an integral part of their daily lives, he stated that if the culture of yoga is widely adopted across society, nothing can stop India from once again becoming a 'Vishwa Guru' (global leader/teacher).
The District Red Cross Society also supported this event.
Vikramjit Singh, President of the Himcaps Institute, along with members of the management committee, officials from various departments, faculty members, students, and other dignitaries, were present on the occasion. At the conclusion of the program, the participants pledged to contribute to the creation of a healthy, disease-free, and positive society through regular yoga practice.
