District Youth Development Organization rescues 12 children being taken for labour

Ambala, 26 August:- District Youth Development Organization with cooperation of Child Welfare Committee, Government Railway Police, Anti Human Trafficking Unit and RPF, under Access to Justice for Children Act, rescued 12 children being taken for forced labour in different areas of Punjab and Himachal from Train No. 15211, Jannayak Express at Ambala Cantt Railway Station. Information about these children was given to President of District Youth Organization Paramjit Singh Baraula by Just Right for Children Alliance. Joint team formed under leadership of Program Coordinator Ajay Tiwari conducted a special check on Jannayak Express at around 8:50 PM. During check, 12 children travelling in suspicious conditions were safely rescued.
During initial interview children revealed that they were being taken to different areas of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu for labour and other works. As per information received, three children were being taken to work as labourers in a sheller in Karnal. Two children were being taken to Jalandhar to work under a contractor. One child was being taken to Himachal Pradesh for daily wage construction work and six other children were being taken to different places for labour.
After rescue, team interacted with children sensitively, paying special attention to their safety, care and mental well-being. After completing necessary DDR and medical procedures, all children were presented before Chairperson of Child Welfare Committee Ambala Ranjita Sachdeva from where orders were issued to send them to Open Shelter Home, Ambala Cantt.
Those who participated in this joint rescue operation included SI Sweety Sehrawat from RPF, SI Vijay, ASI Sodan, Constable Amit and from District Youth Development Organization Executive Member Taruna Chopra, Program Coordinator Ajay Tiwari, Law Intern Madhav, Team Members Harvinder Singh Hundal, Pargat Singh, Rubal Dhiman and Hardeep Singh Nadyali.
