Deputy Commissioner chairs districtlevel meeting under Clean and Green School Rating Program

Una, October 30 – A meeting of the District Level Committee under the Clean and Green School Rating (SHVR) Program was held today in the chamber of Deputy Commissioner, Una, Jatin Lal. On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the work being done under SHVR and stated that this initiative is an important step towards developing a sensitive approach towards cleanliness, environmental responsibility, and sustainable development among students.
He stated that the program aims to promote sanitation, water conservation, waste management, environmentally friendly practices, and civic responsibility in schools, ensuring a healthy, safe, and clean learning environment for students.
At the meeting, Deputy Director of School Education (Quality) and District Project Officer, Samagra Shiksha, Neelam Kumari, informed that the registration and self-assessment of all schools in Una district has been completed under the Clean and Green School Rating 2025-26. He said that this initiative, initially launched as the "Clean School Award," has now been upgraded to the "Clean and Green School Rating" program to encourage schools to excel in cleanliness and environmental protection.
He informed that all government and some private schools in Una district have been registered through the SHVR portal and the "Clean and Green School" mobile app.
Schools have uploaded self-assessment reports and required photographs on various parameters such as cleanliness, water use, waste management, environmental initiatives, and clean behavior. Based on the scores obtained, schools have been assigned a self-assessment rating ranging from 3 to 5 stars.
These eligible schools will be inspected and evaluated by a district-level committee. The selected schools have been divided into four categories: Rural Category 1: Bal Vatika to Grade 8, Rural Category 2: Grades 9 to 12, Urban Category 1: Bal Vatika to Grade 8, and Urban Category 2: Grades 9 to 12.
Out of these, 6 rural schools (3 from each category) and 2 urban schools (1 from each category) will be nominated for the state level process by November 15. After the evaluation, the schools performing excellently will be honored under the Clean and Green School Rating 2025-26.
On this occasion, Neelam Kumari, Deputy Director School Education (Quality) cum District Project Officer Samagra Shiksha, Principal DIET Dehlan Rakesh Arora, Dr. PS Rana along with other officers and members were present.
