Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri Joins AntiChitta Walkathon with Chief Minister

Una, September 16:- Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri today participated in the Anti-Chitta Walkathon organised in Una under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. More than 35,000 people participated in the walkathon organised from Indira Stadium to the Bus Stand, with schoolchildren from across the district forming the largest group. Along with schoolchildren, people from various sections of society, including college students, also participated.
Mukesh Agnihotri said that a statewide campaign against Chitta was underway. Chitta was not only a problem in Himachal Pradesh but also a problem at the national and international level. Due to its supply from outside, its impact had reached every corner of the state. In such a situation, it was extremely important to create awareness among children and youth. He said that through the walkathon organised in Una, a message had been conveyed to children as well as every section of society to stay away from Chitta.
He said that along with awareness, the government was also taking strict action against Chitta traffickers. Properties belonging to people involved in trafficking were being seized, and properties worth more than Rs. 50 crore had been seized so far. More than two dozen government employees had been dismissed from service in cases related to Chitta. At the same time, the government was also working to help drug users quit Chitta.

Panchayats Also Linked to Campaign, Identity of Informants Kept Confidential
The Deputy Chief Minister said that the fight against Chitta was a fight for the entire society. Himachal Police was doing good work against traffickers. Panchayats had also been included in this campaign. On receiving information about suspicious persons, action was being taken while keeping the identity of the informant confidential. He said that cases involving the participation of women and girls in Chitta trafficking were also coming to light, making it necessary for every section of society to remain aware and vigilant.
He said that joint campaigns were also being conducted in coordination with neighbouring states and the Centre. Work was also underway on necessary amendments to the law to make action against Chitta more effective. The matter had also been discussed with the Union Home Minister in a meeting.
Mukesh Agnihotri said that the awareness campaign would continue to make Himachal a Chitta-free society, while action against traffickers would also continue. He said that the participation of thousands of children and people from various sections of society in today’s programme had sent a strong message. The government was fighting against Chitta by taking every section along and moving forward shoulder to shoulder.
