Demand for GMADA Ministers Resignation Questions Raised Over Tehbazari Departments Actions

Mohali, August 27:- Parvinder Singh Sohana, the Chief Sewadar (constituency in-charge) and District President of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Mohali), has demanded the resignation of the concerned minister following questions raised by Aam Aadmi Party MP from Sri Anandpur Sahib, Malvinder Singh Kang, regarding the functioning of GMADA.
Sohana stated that when an MP from the ruling party itself raises questions about alleged corruption and irregularities within GMADA, the government must take the matter seriously and order an impartial, high-level inquiry. He noted that questions have also arisen regarding alleged selective action taken in Saini Majra. The government should clarify the criteria for taking action in different areas and whether uniform rules are being applied in all cases.
He remarked that MP Malvinder Singh Kang should not limit himself to merely issuing statements; instead, he should follow through on his announcement by staging a sit-in protest outside the GMADA office to pressure the government into conducting a fair investigation. Sohana added that Kang should pursue the issue to its logical conclusion and present the facts before the public. He also demanded that the government make the investigation report public.

**Questions Raised About the Tehbazari Department
Sohana also questioned the functioning of the Mohali Municipal Corporation's Tehbazari (Encroachment Removal) Department. He stated that while he opposes illegal encroachments, action must be taken equally against everyone. Taking action against a single shopkeeper or street vendor while sparing adjacent encroachments creates a perception of bias.
He demanded a high-level inquiry into complaints regarding selective action and instances where prior information about enforcement drives was leaked in certain areas. Sohana asserted that if the Akali Dal forms the government, a vigilance-level probe would be conducted into the alleged irregularities and scams linked to the Tehbazari Department. Action in accordance with the law would be taken against any officers, employees, or other individuals found guilty during the investigation.
