Daily TB Screening and Awareness Camps Being Held in the District Civil Surgeon

Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, 20:- Under the 'TB-Mukt Bharat' (TB-Free India) campaign, the District Health Department is organizing daily screening and awareness camps across various villages and towns in the district. Providing this information, Civil Surgeon Dr. Sangeeta Jain and District TB Officer Dr. Navdeep Singh stated that an intensive prevention drive is underway to completely eradicate tuberculosis from the country; as part of this, health teams are conducting door-to-door visits to raise awareness about TB symptoms. A key feature of these camps is that suspected patients undergo on-the-spot X-ray screening. Upon confirmation, patients are immediately registered, and treatment by specialist doctors begins without delay.
They noted that, in addition to sub-divisional hospitals, community health centers, primary health centers, and Ayushman Arogya Kendras, screening and awareness activities are simultaneously being conducted in jails, slums, settlements, construction sites, schools, and offices. According to the officials, the primary objective of these camps is the early detection and timely treatment of TB patients to curb the spread of the disease. They emphasized that a definitive cure for TB exists and there is no need to panic upon contracting the illness.
Free treatment for the disease is available at every government health facility through the DOTS (Directly Observed Treatment, Short-course) system. When the body's immunity—its ability to fight disease—is compromised, the risk of contracting a life-threatening illness like TB increases. This disease can affect individuals of any age at any time. Notably, symptoms such as a cough persisting for two weeks, weight loss, loss of appetite, blood in sputum, evening fever, fatigue, and frequent sweating can be indicators of TB.
