Children made aware about National Blindness Prevention and Eye Protection Principal Ramandeep Kaur

Patiala, September 03:- Lakhs of children, youth and citizens are victims of blindness in India, but people do not donate their deceased eyes. Giving this information, Director of Sony Public School Mr. Varinder Singh and Principal Mrs. Ramandeep Kaur said that an awareness fortnight is being celebrated in the country regarding blindness prevention and eye protection.
In this regard, the help of retired Red Cross Training Supervisor Mr. Kaka Ram Verma was taken to provide information about eye care and eye protection to children at Sony Public School, Patiala. Mr. Kaka Ram Verma informed the children about the methods of eye care and maintaining eye protection.
The children were made aware that excessive consumption of fast food, junk food and cold drinks can be harmful to health. Continuously watching mobile, computer or television can have a negative impact on the eyes. Internal head injuries, cataracts, eye injuries and vitamin A deficiency can also cause damage to the eyes.
Information was also given about washing the eyes with fresh water 5-6 times a day to clean the eyes, consuming maximum fresh fruits and vegetables and exercising to maintain eyesight.
He said that due to lack of awareness, more than 50,000 children and youth are becoming victims of blindness every year. Therefore, people should not only be aware of eye health but also come forward to donate the eyes of the deceased.
