Blind Murder Case Traced Within 6 Hours One Accused Arrested

Sangrur, September 15:- Sangrur District Police traced a blind murder case within six hours in the area of Police Station Cheema, arrested one accused and recovered the dagger used in the crime.
SSP Sangrur Dr. Ravjot Grewal said that on September 13, the Sarpanch of village Jakhepal Chowas informed the police that the blood-soaked body of a person was lying near the drain embankment on the road leading from village Amru Kotda to Jakhepal. In this regard, FIR No. 121 dated 13.09.2026 was registered at Police Station Cheema under Section 103(1) of the BNS and investigation was initiated.
To trace the case, separate teams were constituted under the leadership of Captain of Police (Local), Sangrur, Shri SukhAmrit Singh PPS, and under the supervision of Deputy Captain of Police (Detective), Sangrur, Shri Harsimran Singh PPS, and Deputy Captain of Police (PBI/NDPS), Sangrur, Shri Sukhdev Singh PPS. Teams of CIA Sangrur In-charge Inspector Sandeep Singh and Station House Officer, Police Station Cheema, Sub-Inspector Yogesh Garg, with the help of human and technical intelligence, arrested accused Gurpreet Singh alias Mani, son of Sadivan Singh, resident of Hambalwas Jakhepal, within six hours. The dagger used in the crime was also recovered from him.
During the investigation, it came to light that a fight had taken place between the two sides on February 11, 2026. In this connection, the accused had got a case registered against the deceased Lakhwinder Singh alias Lakkha at Police Station Dharamgarh. According to the police, the accused committed the murder due to this old enmity.
The accused has been taken on remand and is being interrogated in depth. Further important revelations are expected during the investigation.
