Ban on Cutting Trees Without Permission Forest Divisional Officer

Karnal, March 26: The Forest Divisional Officer stated that strict guidelines regarding the felling of trees have been issued by the Hon'ble National Green Tribunal (NGT), Delhi. According to the issued orders, with the exception of trees belonging to the notified exempted categories—namely Eucalyptus, Poplar, Bakain, Bamboo, Mulberry, Guava, and Ailanthus species—it is mandatory to obtain approval from the Forest Divisional Officer before felling any other type of tree. There is a complete ban on the felling of trees belonging to other species without prior permission.
He further informed that if any individual or institution is found engaging in the illegal felling of restricted species without permission, a fine equivalent to the value of the felled trees will be levied, in accordance with the directives laid down by the Hon'ble NGT. Additionally, the concerned individual or institution will bear the responsibility of planting three new saplings for every single tree felled, and of ensuring the protection and conservation of these planted saplings for a period of five years.
The Forest Divisional Officer has appealed to all citizens to cooperate in environmental conservation and to refrain from violating the law.
