Action Taken by Sangrur SubDivision Police from September 8 to 14 2026

Sangrur, September 15, 2026:- Dr. Ravjot Grewal, IPS, SSP Sangrur, while briefing the press, stated that during the campaign launched by Sangrur District Police under "Yudh Nashian Virudh" and "Pindan De Pehredar" against drugs and anti-social elements, the police of Sangrur Sub-Division took action during the past week from September 8, 2026 to September 14, 2026. Under the NDPS/drugs-related cases, 02 cases were registered and 03 accused were arrested, from whom 40 grams of heroin/chitta were recovered. Under the Excise Act, 02 cases were registered and 02 accused were arrested, from whom 52 bottles of country-made liquor were recovered. To help persons trapped in drug addiction get rid of substance abuse, 01 person was admitted for treatment and 02 persons were provided medicines. In addition, 11 accused were arrested in heinous crimes and other offences. Furthermore, while tracing 01 theft case registered at Police Station City-1 Sangrur, 03 accused were arrested, from whom 15 grams of stolen gold, 04 pairs of silver anklets, 02 silver bangles, 01 silver chain and one Bluetooth speaker were recovered.
A total of 179 traffic challans were issued for various violations by vehicles violating traffic rules. After checking suspicious persons, action under preventive provisions was taken against 275 persons through 172 bonds, while preventive action was also initiated against 02 persons.
Along with appealing to the general public to cooperate in the anti-drug campaign, meetings are being held with panchayats, sports clubs and prominent persons to spread awareness among the public and youth about the harmful effects of drugs and to encourage them to provide timely information to the police regarding drug-related activities so that the menace of drugs can be eradicated from its roots. Upon receiving information against persons involved in the drug trade and anti-social elements, immediate legal action is being taken and concrete efforts are being made to prevent drug abuse. The war against drugs continues.
