Action taken against Rakesh Dhiman head of the Gram Panchayat Kharyalta for irregularities in MNREGA works barred from work for six months
Una, February 12: The administration has taken a tough stand against Rakesh Dhiman, head of the Gram Panchayat Kharyalta, in the Bangana development block, for alleged irregularities in MNREGA development works. According to an office order issued by the Deputy Commissioner, Una, he has been barred from participating in any Panchayat work or activity for a period of six months under the provisions of the Himachal Pradesh Panchayati Raj Act, 1994.
According to information received, a complaint was received regarding MNREGA development works carried out in the Kharyalta Gram Panchayat. Based on the complaint, an investigation was initiated through the District Panchayat Officer, Una, and the Block Development Officer, Bangana, was directed to conduct a preliminary investigation.
After receiving the preliminary investigation report, considering the seriousness of the matter, orders for a regular investigation were issued. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Bangana, was appointed the investigating officer. The report submitted by the investigating officer confirmed irregularities in MNREGA works.
Based on the investigation report, a show-cause notice was issued to the Gram Panchayat Pradhan under Section 146(1) of the Himachal Pradesh Panchayati Raj Act, 1994, before taking appropriate action. After examining the Pradhan's response, the administration found it unsatisfactory.
Subsequently, the Deputy Commissioner, Una, exercised his powers under Section 146(1-A) of the Act, prohibiting Pradhan Rakesh Dhiman from participating in any Panchayat work or activity for six months.
A copy of the office order has been sent to the Director, Panchayati Raj Department, Shimla, the District Panchayat Officer, Una, the Block Development Officer, Bangana, the Gram Panchayat Secretary, and other concerned officials for compliance. The administration has also issued instructions for strict compliance with the order.
This action reflects the administration's commitment to ensuring transparency, accountability, and good governance in development works at the Panchayat level.
