SAS Nagar, August 26- Due to incomplete work of preparing the chamber of pipes laid for rainwater drainage on the road near the local Sri Laxmi Narayan temple of Phase 11, a major accident can happen anytime due to this.
A part of the road has been dug up at this place to build the chamber, which is about 15 feet deep. This road coming from Sector 47 of Chandigarh meets the Airport Road and there is traffic on it all the time.
The construction work of this chamber is being done by the Public Health Department, but the pace of this work is very slow and due to this, those passing through here and especially the residents of Phase 11 are facing a lot of trouble. The soil that has been dug to build the chamber has been piled up on the main road. When it rains, this soil dissolves in the water and comes onto the road, making it muddy and slippery.
Although the land dug by the department for the pipes laid for the drainage of rainwater has been filled with soil, deep pits are still there in those places and people are badly troubled due to the mud here due to the rain. Phase 11 Councilor Kulwant Singh Kler says that the residents of Phase 11 had requested the contractor to fill these pits properly, but the contractor filled them with soil instead.
He said that he had also asked the contractor to repair the road quickly and complete the work of the chamber quickly, but the contractor has only deployed two masons there and the pace of work is very slow. He said that unless more masons and laborers are employed here, there is no possibility of completing the work of this chamber soon.
In this regard, senior Aam Aadmi Party leaders Captain Karnail Singh and Raghbir Singh Sidhu have demanded that the Municipal Corporation and the administration should instruct the contractor to complete this work soon so that the problems faced by the people can be resolved.
When contacted, Mohali Municipal Corporation Mayor Sardar Amarjit Singh Sidhu said that this work is being done by the Public Health Department and he has asked the officials of the Public Health Department to complete this work soon. In this regard, several attempts were made to contact the SDO of the Public Health Department but he could not be contacted.
