Nawanshahr, April 8: A special meeting of the Executive Committee of Senior Citizens Association Nawanshahr was held at Shri Ram Sharanam Mandir Lal Chowk Nawanshahr under the patronage of Chairman Dr. JD Verma and under the chairmanship of Professor SK Baruta. Issues related to the association were discussed in the meeting.
Chairman Dr. JD Verma, President Professor SK Baruta and General Secretary SK Puri jointly said that Senior Citizens Association Nawanshahr has praised Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh and District Police Chief Dr. Mehtab Singh for the development work being done in the district and the proper arrangements being made by the police.
He said that the Deputy Commissioner issues orders from time to time to reduce noise pollution in the district, ban on building memorial gates without permission, ban on cutting of certain types of trees and welfare of citizens. Under his instructions, patchwork has been done by the Public Works Department on the main road passing through the city for the convenience of pedestrians.
Similarly, as per the instructions of SSP Dr. Mehtab Singh IPS, despite the shortage of staff, proper arrangements have been made to solve the traffic problem in the city, while under the campaign launched against drugs, drug smugglers are also being tightened. The association praised the work being done by Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh and District Police Chief Dr. Mehtab Singh.
The association has demanded from the district administration that special attention should be paid to the inner roads of the city like Railway Road, Kalam Road, Slough Road and other roads and at least patchwork should be done till their completion, so that some solution can be found to the problem faced by the passersby. All the members of the executive were present on this occasion.
